Haley Gaffney
DPT
Haley’s journey into physical therapy began in high school when she underwent shoulder surgery due to a softball injury. This experience ignited her passion for the profession and she quickly decided to pursue it as a career. Throughout her high school years, she not only received physical therapy as a patient but also worked as a rehab aide, further nurturing her interest in the field.
Alongside her academic pursuits at Ithaca, she also played softball for the nationally ranked Bombers. In her first year of the doctorate program, she took on the role of student physical therapy mentor, guiding undergraduate students on their educational journeys. Due to the unique circumstances presented by Covid, she was able to redshirt and return to playing softball during her second year in the DPT program. Her dedication to academics and athletics earned her the prestigious CoSIDA Academic All-District honors for her GPA.
Haley’s educational journey also included valuable clinical rotations at three outpatient facilities: Bay State Physical Therapy in Dorchester, Optimal Performance and Physical Therapies in St. Petersburg, Florida, and Cape Cod Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine Physical Therapy. These experiences gave her a well-rounded orthopedic education and led her to realize her love of educating patients and their families while helping them reach their goals.
Currently, Haley is thrilled to be a part of the Cape Cod Ortho team in Hyannis. She looks forward to continuing her professional development and learning from her colleagues as she progresses in her career as a physical therapist.
Outside the clinic, you can find Haley enjoying her favorite restaurants on Hyannis Main Street, reading a good book on the beach with family, or exploring the Cape with her dog Bo.
